Realisation

I took some film over christmas of family and friends and was looking back at it and I look awful. Quite cringy to watch in fact, I looked a complete mess.
It’s easy to forget that I haven’t bothered doing my hair, face, or thought about what I’m wearing when I’m not the one looking at myself all the time.
My mum got me new hair-straighteners for Christmas (my old one has almost packed up), so maybe that was her way to telling me to sort myself out a bit!
I’m also usually a UK size 8 or 10 yet the two items of clothing I recieved from different family members were both size ‘Large’. Maybe I should start wearing non-baggy clothes. It obviously makes me look bigger than I am.

Right. I need to make more of an effort on this.

Merging from my "don't wear trainers" goal. Included before deletion so I can see my progress.

I did okay for two days, yesterday I had work so never left the house, and today it was back to the trainers.
I’m going to be wearing them over the weekend because I dislike travelling with less comfy shoes, and I can only fit in one other pair of shoes into my luggage. My second choice is a second pair of trainers, this time my gym trainers.
The sad thing is that I have shelves of shoes, boots, daps, and heels in all differnt styles and yet I wear trainers everyday. They’re just waiting to be worn in! (Or at least hobbled about in in pain).

They’re unfeminine, and give the impression of laziness in how I dress. Plus my legs are my best feature so I should really show them off a little more and help take the emphasis off of the rest of me!
I’ll still wear a pair for the gym, but only then. This is going to be tough. I’ll call this done after a month of non trainers. That should get me out of the habit.
I just need to find myself a comfortable pair of boots I can replace them with now.

Hair is the worst

Trying, but I just find better things to do with my time in the morning (eg. sleeping) than spending hours on my hair. Normally, if I don’t have the time to spend straightening it, I just put a lot of serum on it and stuff it all back into a pony tail.

The last few days I’ve been trying to wear it down more (it looks nicer than puled back but it’s just so impractical). I’ve had a lot of “Wow I never knew you had curly hair!”, or “I didn’t recognise you behind all of that.” comments. None of which imply a compliment I might add.

I think I need to get some better straighteners.

Confidence

I’m trying to talk to more people at uni – today I was in a few situations where I could have started up conversations with people I vaugely know but ended up being too shy because I knew I looked a mess (hair needed a wash, massive oversized jumper, no make-up).

I just often feel there’s no point getting out of bed to go to lectures so actually making an effort to look presentable isn’t a priority!

When I had a weekend job it got me into the mindset of having to look nice everyday (working with customers meant my boss would say something to me even if my hair was slightly out of place!).

Getting up that half hour earlier will be worth it for my own confidence. However I think I’ll still skip makeup most days for my skin’s sake.
