Sometimes I forget

I want to remember the little promises I make, especially to my boys. They seem to remember these promises much better than I do, and I don’t want them to grow up thinking parents forget promises all the time.
Another aspect of this is knowing that sometimes I make promises simply to get them off my back. It would be better for all concerned if I learn to stop what I’m doing to address what it is they really need rather than shining them on for later.
