After Christmas there was quite a gap in teaching, then my sickness, then the mad dash of trying to get caught up.
I think I’m finally back in the swing of having my Sunday sessions. There’s also a Thursday night Jiva Yoga session happening in our Community, but with Thursday night Jam sessions, I won’t be able to make it to that as much.

As of yesterday, I have the first book of 51 sutras re-learned. I don’t yet have it word for word, but I have the essential gist of them all, and the wording for many of them. I’ll be working to perfect these 51, then seeing about tackling the next ones.

Now that I’m teaching once a week, my next goals for my Yoga practice are:
- To start teaching a wider range of sets… sets that I don’t usually teach.
- To spend more time preparing for class
- To re-memorize the first book of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.

I am now teaching Kundalini Yoga once a week, and as there are a nice couple who have been involved with Kundalini Yoga for a long while here at Windsong, we are talking about getting some regular practice together happening as well.

I just got back from a wonderful swim at the Community Center that’s near our new home, and found out that they are looking to hire a yoga teacher… specifically another Kundalini Yoga teacher. While I’m currently not up to the level that I would have to be to be teaching again, it provides an awesome reason to get there soon. It would be fantastic to be able to bike to the Community Center, teach a couple of hours of Yoga, and head home.

I’ve had a few people lately express interest in taking some Yoga Classes. So: I need to start practicing regularly to get back to a point where I can teach (It’s probably been about 4 years since I was teaching Yoga at all). I’m looking forward to getting back in shape, and more centered.
I’ll have to figure out a good little set of Kriyas to get back in shape with, and dig out my Teacher’s material, and go through it again. Maybe I’ll shoot for teaching classes as of April.

Yoga is a big part of my life.
For about eight years I practiced Kundalini Yoga regularly. I spent a month in India learning about various branches of Yoga, I memorized the first two books of Patanjali’s sutras, I trained and became a Kundalini Yoga instructor, and I had many amazing experiences along the way.
For the last several years I’ve fallen out of practice. For various reasons I don’t feel a deep connection with much of the Kundalini Yoga community, and without a community of practice I’ve found it hard to maintain the discipline.
I want to deepen in my yoga again. Both in terms of practicing yoga sets and in terms of letting a commitment to the general practices of yoga help shape my life.
The Milestone:
- Re-memorize the first two books of Patanjali
- Practice yoga at least 3 times a week
- Practice yoga every day for 40 days.
