I thought it came out pretty good. Not as good as the one I saw with Shreik but still I followed the pattern, traced it, folded the paper like it says, used a push pin for the detail around the cape and horse’s mane. When the lights are out it looks real sharp. Even the shadow details look pretty good. So what do you think for a rough amateur?
We had a feminist pumpkin carving Meet-up and only three of us showed up, Grrrrrrrr. :(
Anyway, the hardest part by far was removal of the pumpkin crud! seeds and all after cuting off the top of the gourd. Next, was the taping of the stencils, Marie did a scary ghost, Omni did a franskenstein face and I did a large spider. Not all the photos came out and will try and post the ones that did. Actually, if I can do this, anyone can. All you do is visit an arts & craft shop, and pick up a pumpkin carving kit, comes with cheap plastic utensils (but they really work) and a number of good stencils, or you can download them. Tape the stencil you want to use, decide what areas get removed and which ones will remain. Start poking holes around the stencil outline, and remove pieces as you go. The kit comes with a small saw to remove pumkin pieces that ar cut and for trimming corners. I think they all came out pretty well. It does take a long time per pumpkin carving though.
