pay off my credit card

I did this a while ago and forgot it was on my list!!? Crazy me. It’s amazing how much further one’s paycheck goes when one doesn’t have to send off as much as possible to the mean credit card people.
What a relief!

Sent off my tax refund to the CC people so I have about $3000 left. I am partly self-employed, so depending on income, my taxes can vary wildly. But luckily this year (unlike last year) I ended up on the good side of things. :)

Even though I had just paid this card off last summer!? My house renovations came to more than I had saved (siding, fence, kitchen) so that put about 2K on there. And my trip last summer to Ireland also cost more than I had put aside due to crappy exchange rate and high prices (another 1K). The rest is just creeping little stuff, which is a whole ‘nother problem!
So…I’m trying to see where I can cut expenses. They lowered my interest rate to 7.9% so that’s not too brutal. Eating out is the biggie. If J. and I go out only once a week, then I pay only twice a month (doable). I’ve already cut out a lot of bills (cable etc.) but I could also switch internet to FIOS and cancel home phone. My last student loan payment is April, so that’ll be another $250/month I can snowball into my CC payment. Sigh. I’ve paid off my cards so many times and vowed to never carry a balance again, that, as Oprah would say, “I can’t believe I’m still talking about credit card debt!”
