my Spanglish was somewhat useful in Spain, especially in Palma, but on a few occasions it was easier when I could communicate in broken French.
It was decided that I would definitely re-learn French, one sister would re-learn Spanish with emphasis on Spain Spanish instead of the Mexican Spanish she’d previously learned, and the other sister is to take up learning Italian. Too bad there isn’t a 4th sister or we’d have German covered too.

Just remembered I had once passed this place when touring around Park Circus.
They offer a library, courses, and cultural activities. I’m gonna give ‘em a call.

My French skills are basic, at best. I can ask for the WC, and order a ham sandwich with a beer but my conversational skills in this language are merde.
I found out last night that a friend of mine took 7 years of French, and my friend Lisa in Colorado actually studied french in France. I’m trying to talk my “french” friends into just using French when we communicate.
Maybe the locals can sign up for a French course at the community college as a way to get back into it.

I downloaded Cliff Notes: French I from the library. Surprising how much I actually remember. I also recently read Candide, and my copy contains French on the left and English on the right. I’ve got an audio book on hold that I want to download to my MP3 player so I can practice my French during my commute.

I took a year of French in high school and another in College. I am hoping that living abroad will increase my exposure to this language. The strangest thing? Even though I don’t read/write/speak this language, any new words I see I always apply with a French pronunciation before an English one… And when I was taking ASL and we learned the sign for “cat”, I didn’t translate “a cat” I translated “un chat”
