so bummed, I genuinely thought I’d be able to do this in 2009. New medical issues cropping up are forcing me to make choices and I think it would be best to push this back to the 2010 race. Way too difficult to get everything done in time, and the last thing I should be doing is adding more stress. Sad, but most realistic thing I can do.

The company I work for does fundraising for a big charity that gets spots for the London marathon. I opened my big mouth and said if they need runners for 2009 they could put my name down on the list.
oh gawd.

I had my first run on Friday. It was rather impromptu, but I happened to have my new walking shoes on and it was pouring down like the gods were upending buckets and I quickly reasoned that if I ran to the office instead of walking I would only be miserably wet versus drenched.
So I slung my bag around to my back, grabbed ahold of my boobs, and ran for the office as if my personal pool boy was waiting at the end with a triple-grande latte and a big fluffy towel. My inner chants alternated between “breathe, breathe, don’t forget to breathe” and “please don’t trip, please”, and before I knew it I’d arrived and dashed up those steps like the scene from (original) Rocky. And I wasn’t even winded when I got there.
Not bad for two blocks!

My copy of The Non-Runner’s Marathon Trainer arrived today. I know it will be awhile before I can begin to put this into practice, but I’m so excited for my future self that I went ahead and ordered it now. Somehow this makes it a little more real.

This is the place to dream big, set some goals, and make those dreams happen, yes? I’ve mentioned in previous entries (or were those journal entries) that I used to run when I was younger but gave it up for various reasons.
I want to take it back. I want to run again. I want to give myself a carrot on a stick and commit myself to running in the London Marathon 2009. I’m hoping I’m not too physically damaged to do this, and I guess I’ll find out more when I meet with doctors next month.
I have one year to get myself into good enough shape to get the breast reduction and be healed enough by April to race. And then after the race I will jet off to Greece to celebrate my 40th birthday.
