I’m starting to think about marking this as done. I am a good mother, I know I am. So why do I need this goal when with or without it I am constantly striving to become better?

He’s had a great time over the festive season and I just had to show off! So let’s end the year with some cheer.
Here’s Orion babbling and saying a few words.
Here he is showing Big Ted some love.
And here he is showing off with his walker.
There’s also a video of him in the bath but YouTube hasn’t finished processing it yet. ;o) And lots and LOTS of photographs of him at my Flickr account.
Orion was discharged from Physiotherapy yesterday!
According to his therapist, his gross motor skills are now consistent with his age, meaning that he no longer needs to have physiotherapy. He will still have occupational therapy for his fine motor skills, and the speech/language therapist and portage workers will still be involved in his care but it’s SO wonderful to be told he is developing well and isn’t delayed any further with the gross motor skills.
For information: Gross Motor Skills are the movements of the large muscles of the body. Activities that use large muscle groups would be running, jumping, riding bikes. Fine Motor Skills include activities involving coordination of hands, such as using scissors and handwriting. These skills involve using the small muscles of the fingers in coordination with the eyes (from about.com).
Orion is doing so well these days. He is seven and a half months and learned to roll over in the last few days. He has learned to anticipate his daddy playing peekaboo with him and giggles and chuckles almost all of the time. He is also starting to learn how to use his sippy cup and can stand up as long as he has something to balance him. :o)
I am so proud that we’ve got him this far despite what has happened to him and the setbacks he could have had. Being a mummy is the most fabulous occupation I could hope to have.
I think this is the most fun goal out of all of my list. :o)
Since Orion’s accident I have been trying even more actively to achieve this goal. He’s so smiley and playful even at four months old that it would be impossible to take him for granted. :o)
Orion had a nasty accident a few weeks ago and the doctors said he probably wouldn’t survive. Fantastically, he has now almost completely healed! My deviantART journal – http://ghostlove.deviantart.com – has my diary of the events.
My son Orion Taliesin was born on the 6th September at 4.55am and he’s gorgeous. Being a mum isn’t as hard as they make out, and it’s great fun. :o)
My baby is due on the 4th September. My partner and I are relatively young but looking forward to all the fun and challenges that parenthood will undoubtedly bring. I am learning as much as I can, and hope that I will be as good a parent as I can possibly be.
