I read in the New York Times magazine that Roger Ebert has lost lots of weight by (among other things, I’m sure) walking 10,000 steps every day.
I have a pedometer, but it doesn’t count steps. Maybe I should get a new one and start wearing it. (Or, in keeping with my “be more frugal” goal, I can just wear my old pedometer and then do the math. (In my case, 10,000 steps equals 3.78 miles)
