Buy a House

So we’ve decidedt expand our search & yesterday we went to several different real estate offices in town to get a general overview of what’s available in our price range (and a bit above our range, because you can always pitch a little lower of a number & sometimes people will accept, apparently…) & to see if there was a realtor that we liked to deal with for later on when we get our finances in order & whatnots. We found one, he’s this really cool old guy who gave a lot of information to us about mortgage options, how to use your RRSP/RSP to help put a downpayment on your house, etc. Apparently you can withdraw some penalty free if you specify that it’s for the purchase of a home, as long as you pay it back within a certain amount of time. That as neat to know. If we had RRSP. lol And also he gave us a good tip: you can pay down MORE on your mortgage every year, up to 10% here, which helps get that debt down faster! Without penalty…very important. I throughly enjoyed that meeting & learned a lot but that’s the two most important for us being first time homebuyers I think, just having that knowledge of different mortgage options & which would prolly be best for us.

Every time we think we’ve settled…lol...we MOVE. Sigh We’re living with family now, in another whole province entirely. :) We’re scouting options…there’s trailers…& houses…of course I’d rather have a house…but a trailer is my husbands ideal fore now because it’s incredibly cheaper. I just…have issues with this…lol...for reasons…shallow, horrid, terrible, completely stupid reasons…but reasons none the less. We’ll probably end up getting a good deal because his uncle wants to sell us his trailer he just bought in the next year; so that’s the plan currently. Sigh

It’s now 2 years later and not only did we not buy that house; for reasons; we are still living in an apartment. But it’s a nicer one. lol We picked the city we actually want to buy a house in…that’s cool…sometimes life is slow…sometimes fast. All’s I know is it’s one day at a time. :)

Got approved for our mortgage so now all we need to do is get the house and sign the paper work. That entails calling the realtor which I am going to do this afternoon. I am so excited, life is so full…think I said that today. But still, to be newly married and buying our first house already is really cool. It’s a milestone event, and duly exciting. Duly stressful, too…but there is nothing like being in your place, and knowing it’s yours. I think everyone in the world yearns for a place like that. This is one more step in our journey of discovering that place for ourselves, and what “home” means to us as a couple. It’s freaking awesome. Ta.
