I kept my maiden name when we got married. We contemplated coming up with one new combined last name for both of us, but we couldn’t agree on anything and it just didn’t feel right at the time for me to just take his. We’ve been married for three years now and are thinking about starting a family so it totally makes sense to me now that we should have the same last name.
I know it’s a pain in the ass to have done (in MN we have to go to court and have someone testify for us), but I think it’ll be worth it in the end.
