I go to Chicago to see chums almost every summer. With the exception of the past two summers, I was greatly anticipating my most recent trip, which I took last week.
I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area two years ago (and that would explain why I haven’t been to Chicago in two years, because prior to that I lived and grew up in New York City) and while it’s awesome, there’s just something inherantly appealing about Chicago to me. It could be argued that Chicago is New York-like, but I don’t really think that’s it at all.
I just find Chicago incredibly genuine, and very real without being stuck-up on itself; possibly the most genuine of all cities I’ve ever had the pleasure of being in in the United States.
Everytime I come back to where I live, I just ended up missing it more and thinking I should be there.
