I am considering this done, but of course it will always be a work in progress. BUT! It finally looks like a decorated grown up house. Yay!

I finally started this and it makes me feel great. Makes me feel like we finally live here. I really need to work on my bedroom, it is the only room with unpacked boxes and stacks of stuff still.
I spent the better portion of today moving stuff around. I am happy with the way my furniture looks in the bedroom, though I dont have a suitable table to use for the TV right now. I need the TV to be at the foot of my bed, but because I have a sleighbed the TV isnt really high up enough to see when laying in bed. What I am having trouble with is the living room. The furniture I had before we moved here is shabby and I want new stuff! Plus its just not right for this floorplan and is fitting in awkwardly. The plan is to get a flat screen TV and mount it on the wall over the fireplace. I am hoping to get new couches and a recliner when we get our tax return and will just have to be patient til then.
Almost ready to start. We have moved in most of the big items and got the beds set up, all but mine. LOL That one is tomorrow. Two more dressers to get moved in from the garage and then after getting all our clothing and the last items still in boxes organized I think I can start to decorate. The fun part. I realize that I need/want a new couch really bad. And I promised John our next big purchase will be a flat screen tv for over the fireplace. I need some rugs and other than that I should be happy for awhile. Cant wait to make a good dent in this.
When you buy a new house you get so inspired to decorate. I feel like I have no furniture even worth taking with us to the new house! LOL I will have to make do and be patient, but I am so excited. We have been living in a small condo the past few years, and I have had to use a small round dining room table that only fits 4 because it is all I had room for. Even then, we were so crowded there that no one ever used it. My new kitchen is an eat in kitchen, but there is plenty of room for a bigger table. I went to HomeGoods with my Mom today and was pricing tables just for the heck of it. Saw a bigger round one with a leaf but it was 499 and the chairs 99 each. I didnt really like it that much, just wanted an idea about pricing. A little further down was a large rectangular table, distressed wood top and cream colored painted legs with 8 chairs around it. I told my Mom that it was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I couldnt believe the price tag, only 199. I felt like it was a steal, so even though I am trying to be very frugal with the money right now because of the new house and the move I felt like I couldnt pass it up. My Mom knew of 4 chairs at a local thrift shop that she thought would be perfect, I was dubious. But they turned out to be a great match for the wood top, they are old sturdy library chairs and they were 8 bucks a piece. 4 of them, which is ok for my family and I can just bring out the old chairs at holidays or events. I will be able to fit everyone at my table for Thanksgiving! Yay! I have it crammed in my dining room now, can live with it til we move. This table pictured is similar, but smaller and my table has cream colored legs. Same manufacturer and same type of top.
