Compost

a fabulous little compost pile started up again right now. I keep forgetting my veggie trimmings on the counter, which grosses the kids out, but at least I am remembering to save them!

checked on my compost bin yesterday, and I think things are going well! Not that I really know what to expect or what it should look like. But to me it seems good. No bad odor, not excessively wet and when I mixed it around it was nice and warm, bordering on hot.

I was going to make a really rudimentary bin today out of chicken wire, but my Dad made me an awesome container today. He took a large plastic trash can on wheels and drilled holes into it. Large holes, probably an inch in diameter, all over it and a couple on the bottom. I am excited and will start collecting my stuff today.

I found directions for a very simple compost bin made out of chicken wire. It wont cost me a fortune and seems like a good start for me to learn with. I am picking up the supplies this weekend.

I am going to research this this week and figure out what kind of container I can use. I dont really have extra money to invest in a fancy composter yet, but I think I can make some sort of box or bin. I wonder if this attracts flies?
