spring clean

Holy hell, my laundry bin actually has a bottom to it ;) Yes I am now finally up to date with my washing HUZZAH!

Also hoovered the first 2 floors of the house (still need to do this top floor though) and spent some more time sorting out my room. I hate paperwork… At least I found a sizeable chunk that I can shred though :/ Now I’ve just gotta find those 2 bank statement that I’m missing, as I’m going self-employed and have to do my own tax return this year :S eeks! Scary! But yes… I know they’re here somewhere!

In the meantime I want to go through more of my old clothes to give to charity. I’ve got a donations bag that’s been half full for a few months now so hopefully I can finish that off. Then it’s off to Sis’ for 6pm. Busy busy busy!

Am back home now after spending most of this month at the camp helping lead bushcraft&survival courses and then 2days in Glastonbury.
What a state the house was in. I carpet swept downstairs 3times, did a load of washing (need to do another today), tidied the study, replaced 3 lightbulbs, and tidied my room so it doesn’t look like a dumping ground any more.

Today I’m gonna hoover the middle floor and maybe the top too.

I need to get 2x large frames (about A3 sized) and 2×5x7” frames for two of my ink prints and 2 gorgeous cards to go over my wash stand and dressing table. It’s settled, the pike is gonna go above my TV and stereo.

Right, it’s clean enough for now. Made a HUGE difference to it that day, but am only just updating now… And yes, I did find the pike head.

The pike is rather shiney now as a result of WD40 and a rag, then a good scrubbing with a hard brush and wire wool, and a final coat of WD40 to seal it and hopefully stop it rusting again. I’m glad the engraved decoration is still mainly there :D was panicking before that it’d disappear with the rust! But yes… Now I just need to figure out how/where to display it in my room! It’ll probably be a case of 2 picture hooks with bits of ribbon suspending it from the picture rail above my dressing table.

Ok so last time I listed all the rooms of the house pretty much but I’ve done a lot of work over the months.

The only rooms left to do entirely now are:

Mum’s bedroom – total clean and tidy needed, clothes should be in wardrobe/drawers! (That goes for the middle landing too)

Bathroom – cracks filling, re-painting, plumbing in a new shower, re-tiling, lino floor instead of horrible carpet? :S

Sitting room – FILE away Mum’s paperwork, get rid of old broken record player and get a new one.

Ie. The rooms Mum’s in charge of.

As ever, my room gets its decluttering when necessary and I’m gonna tackle the shed today :) I cleared all the rubbish out before I went to Download but I still need to organise the things in there (make the most of the space) and sweep the floor. It’ll be interesting as there’s: my mountain bike, a single headboard, 4 garden chairs, a box or two of random stuff and my 1/2size pool table and accessories all in a 4×5ft shed! I may as well try and I’ll come across that pike head I’m sure!

Off I go…

Due to mine&Mum’s agreement she hadn’t done any cleaning while I was away and she told me off for not having done it. My reply was “It kinda helps when I’m actually at home.” This speech was delivered when she got back home from work at 5pm today.

Today (midday til 3pm) I: unpacked properly, did a load of washing, hung it up after folding Mum’s washing and putting it in her room, hoovered 2 of the 3 floors of the house THOROUGHLY including moving furniture, tidied my study and tidied my room a little.

.Sigh. Have been chilling out on the computer and listening to People In Planes and Placebo since then :) Today’s been a good day.

Ahh beloved days off meaning I’m at home and able to clean again after 2weeks! HUZZAH!

Have carpet swept the bottom floor of the house, middle floor is up next!

I really should carry on with the decluttering in my room too… I haz charity bags :D

I’m almost to the bottom of my laundry bin now :D

I came across (and washed) a few pairs of jogging bottoms that can go to charity, and I need to think of what to do with my old saris. I don’t really want to go to The Manor to give them back but I dunno if they’ll be useful to the charity shop. I could use my black sari as the middle pannel in the quilt/comforter I was thinking of making though. I’d feel a bit weird using my gorgeous red wedding sari (ex hubby bought it) even though the material would be perfect :S I’m sure I’ll think of something.

A couple of days ago I caught “1900 House” on the TV (a re-run from a fair few years ago) and remembered the episode where they got a carpet sweeper… I then saw the state of the livingroom carpet – not AS bad as normal – so grabbed our carpet sweeper and set to it! It was actually quicker than it would’ve been to hoover. Hehe fun stuff.

I will be hoovering today though as my niece is coming round on Sunday and I work weekends. Mum’s said she’ll give it another go over with the sweeper before she actually gets here.

I should really do a load of washing and find more clutter in my room to go to the charity shop, but I’m enjoying just chilling out on a rare day off :(

... Best get to it.

It’s taken over again – 6days this week and all 7 next week so this is gonna go on a back burner til beginning of June since I’ll hardly be home.

As I’ve been feeling a heck of a lot better I hoovered the whole of downstairs yesterday (a twice a week task) and did the washing up as it was only a few bits.

Tomorrow brings attacking my washing pile again – I really wanna be able to use the inside of my linen basket rather than stacking washing on the top – as it’s starting to resemble a game of Jenga.

I should also continue the (very slow) sorting of the contents of my room – 21years of keepsakes, toys and clothes, and 8yrs of paperwork plays havoc on even a huge bedroom! At least I’ve had a couple of major clear outs in that time.
I haven’t bought any under-bed storage boxes yet as I figured I should work out what I need to store there first! I still haven’t figured out what to do with my beloved old single bed either :S
