Ok so I really want to do more than one pull up... 8 months ago

I really want to do more than one pull up. I set this goal for two reasons:

1.) I have to be able to the first on, don’t I? Also I have read that most people are able to quickly increase from the first one.

2.) I am trying to use the 43T goals that are being pursued by as many other people as possible. Its part of my 43T experiment. I am curious to see what will happen if I put some effort and thought into 43T

My real goal is to be able to do 6+ chin ups after having done 49+ puch ups in 2 minutes, followed by 59+ situps in two minutes.

In other words I want to pass the US Army Ranger Physical Fitness Test (minus the run) The cartilage is almost gone in my knees and left hip – so running is out!

Here are the standards for the Ranger PT test:

Push-ups – 49+
Sit-ups – 59+
Chin ups – 6+
2 mile run in running shoes in 15:12 minutes or less

THIS IS EMBARRASSING.... 8 months ago

Most all the 28 people pursuing this goal seem to be high school and college girls.

I am a 49 year old man, who was an Army Drill Sgt. when dinosaurs walked the earth.

I have let myself get into horrible shape. At this point most of the women here would shake their heads in pity or disgust… or turn and laugh if they saw me doing what I call a workout.

I am lucky to live in a 100 year old house in New Orleans. The doorways are over 10 feet tall. The door height is important when one is 6’4” tall.

I am going to buy a pull up bar. I saw a youtube video where you can use these giant rubber bands to partially support you while you are on the bar.

Next step is to buy the bar and the bands!

Good luck to everyone else!
