Paul and I went to the writer’s group on Monday. It was a good-sized group with about 15 people showing up. A few pieces were read, congratulations were given to those people who won awards at the state conference this year (of which there were six, including the winner of the most prestigious award given at the annual conference, the Creme-de-la-Creme), and those members that had had pieces published since the last meeting were recognized.
These people are serious about writing and publishing, which is exactly the group dynamic I’m looking for. September’s meeting is a “Contest Month”, which they have 3 times a year. Everyone brings a completed piece to read and then secret ballots are cast to decide the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. This should be fun.
