No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’re starving or freezing or so very poor
No one laughs at God
When the doctor calls after some routine tests
No one’s laughing at God
When it’s gotten real late
And their kid’s not back from the party yet
No one laughs at God
When their airplane start to uncontrollably shake
No one’s laughing at God
When they see the one they love, hand in hand with someone else
And they hope that they’re mistaken
No one laughs at God
When the cops knock on their door
And they say we got some bad news, sir
No one’s laughing at God
When there’s a famine or fire or flood
Chorus
But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny,
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious
Ha ha
Ha ha
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’ve lost all they’ve got
And they don’t know what for
No one laughs at God on the day they realize
That the last sight they’ll ever see is a pair of hateful eyes
No one’s laughing at God when they’re saying their goodbyes
But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny,
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one laughing at God in hospital
No one’s laughing at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God when they’re starving or freezing or so very
poor
No one’s laughing at God
No one’s laughing at God
No one’s laughing at God
We’re all laughing with God

I’ve just had the craziest week,
Like a party bag of lies, booze and then deceit.
And I don’t know why I want to voice this out loud,
It’s theraputic somehow.
So I’m moving to New York cos I’ve got problems with my sleep,
And we’re not the same and I will wear that on my sleeve.
So I’m moving to New York cos I’ve got issues with my sleep,
Looks like Christmas came early, Christmas came early for me.
I put one foot forward and ended up thirty yards back.
And am I losing touch or am I just completely off the track?
And I don’t know why I want to voice this out loud,
It’s theraputic somehow.
So I’m moving to New York cos I’ve got problems with my sleep,
And we’re not the same and I will wear that on my sleeve.
So I’m moving to New York cos I’ve got issues with my sleep,
Looks like Christmas came early, Christmas came early for me.
So I’m moving to New York cos I’ve got problems with my sleep,
And we’re not the same and I will wear that on my sleeve.
So I’m moving to New York cos I’ve got issues with my sleep,
Looks like Christmas came early, Christmas came early for me.

A daydream spills from my corked head
Breaks free of my wooden neck
Left to nod over sleeping waves
Like bobbing bait for bathing cod
Floating flocks of candled swans
Slowly drift across wax ponds
The men all played along to marching drums
And boy did they have fun behind the sea
They sang, “so our matching legs are marching clocks
And we’re all too small to talk to God
Yes, we’re all too smart to talk to God”
Toast the fine folks casting silver crumbs
To us from the dock.
Jinxed things ringing as they leak
Through tiny cracks in the boardwalk.
Scarecrow now it’s time to hatch
Sprouting suns and ageless daughters.
Don’t you know that those watermelon smiles just can’t ripen underwater
Just can’t ripen underwater
The men all played along to marching drums
And boy did they have fun behind the sea
They sang, “so our matching legs are marching clocks
And we’re all too small to talk to God
Yeah, we’re all too smart to talk to God
Oh, we’re all too smart to talk to God
Oh, legs of wood waves
Waves of wooden legs, waves of wooden legs (repeat)

Was a long and dark December
From the rooftops I remember
There was snow
White snow
Clearly I remember
From the windows they were watching
While we froze down below
When the future’s architectured
By a carnival of idiots on show
You’d better lie low
If you love me
Won’t you let me know?
Was a long and dark December
When the banks became cathedrals
And the fog
Became God
Priests clutched onto bibles
And went out to fit their rifles
And the cross was held aloft
Bury me in honor
When I’m dead and hit the ground
A love back home unfolds
If you love me
Won’t you let me know?
I don’t want to be a soldier
With the captain of some sinking ship
With snow, far below
So if you love me
Why’d you let me go?
I took my love down to violet hill
There we sat in snow
All that time she was silent still
So if you love me
Won’t you let me know?
If you love me,
Won’t you let me know?

Words are flying out like
endless rain into a paper cup
They slither while they pass
They slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow waves of joy
are drifting thorough my open mind
Possessing and caressing me
Jai guru deva om
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Images of broken light which
dance before me like a million eyes
That call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a
restless wind inside a letter box
they tumble blindly as
they make their way across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Sounds of laughter shades of life
are ringing through my open ears
exciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which
shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Jai guru deva

You, do you remember me?
Like I remember you?
Do you spend your life
Going back in your mind to that time?
Cause I, I walk the streets alone
I hate being on my own
And everyone can see that I really fell
And I’m going through hell
Thinking about you were somebody else
[CHORUS]
Somebody wants you, somebody needs you
Somebody dreams about you every single night
Somebody can’t breath, without you it’s lonely
Somebody hopes someday you will see
That Somebody’s Me, that Somebody’s Me
How, How could we go wrong
It was so good and now it’s gone
And I pray at night that our paths will soon cross
And what we had isn’t lost
Cause you’re always right here in my thoughts
[CHORUS]
You’ll always be in my life even if I’m not in your life
Cause you’re in my memory
You, will you remember me?
And before you set me free
Oh listen, please
[CHORUS]
That Somebody’s Me
That Somebody’s Me

The paths have been crossed
The crumbs are gone and the way, and the way is lost
Melancholy phantoms eye our skins
And poisoned apples falling with the wind
Hear the sigh of the trees
Those who enter here never leave
And the rangers stream out of their cabins
They are the hunters, we are the rabbits and
Maybe we don’t wanna be found (X2)
Further in the hole we go
Saddest creatures tugging at our clothes
Cutting through the twilight, sword in hand
Creatures once united against the land
At the sound of the bells
They’re pulling paper lanterns from their shelves
And the rangers stream outta their cabins
They are the hunters we are the rabbits and
Maybe we don’t wanna be found
Maybe we don’t want you tracking us down
The rangers stream out of their cabins
Raising their muskets, flashing their badges but
Maybe we don’t wanna be found (X2)
Let’s keep hiding, all quiet like
They’ll keep seeking, but they won’t find us
Let’s keep living a quiet life
You and I, you and I
And the rangers stream out of their cabins
They are the hunters we are the rabbits and
Maybe we don’t wanna be found
Maybe we don’t want you tracking us down
The rangers stream out of their cabins
Raising their muskets, flashing their budges but
Maybe we don’t wanna be found (X2)

Girl, you wanted
To shut it all off and make a run for the door
It’s so hard
To make it
For every inch we get we need a mile more
[Bridge]
But there is always so much distance can’t but feel it somehow
But you have never ever felt it like you feel it right now
I’m closing off inside and I was only just starting
But you can’t be close enough unless I’m feeling your heart beat
[Chorus]
All of your love
Is all that I needed
All of your love
Is all that I needed
Girl
What are you doing now?
And are you going out?
Or has your life shut down?
Are you there?
This thing keeps cutting out
I feel like freaking out
But we keep reaching out
[Bridge]
[Chorus]
Girl
It’s hard enough
Just to move around
It’s hard enough
Just to move around
I wanted you
Oh, I wanted you
Girl I wanted you to move
Oh, I wanted you
Girl I wanted you
Oh, I wanted you to move
Around
Around
[Chorus]

Holding my breath
For a whole month
If I held your breath
At least we would touch
Keeping from you
Keeps me from sleep
It’s just this bad beat
That I just can’t keep
[Chorus]
Oh, girl, it’s true
I can never be away from you
It’s like you gloss your lips with glue
Oh we kiss and I am stuck to you
My hearts on the floor
My feet feel like lead
I’d quit the tour
But I’m already dead
Our only connection
Is synthetically
We show our affection
Electronically
[Chorus]
We lock lips and
Throw the key out
Till it slips that
I must leave town
Our love reaches
Across oceans
To your beaches
Lonely notions
[Chorus]

I read the news today oh, boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well, i just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn’t notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They’d seen his face before
Nobody was really sure if he was from the house of lords
I saw a film today oh, boy
The English army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
But i just had to look
Having read the book
I love to turn you on.
Woke up, got out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, i noticed i was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
Somebody spoke and i went into a dream
Ah…
I read the news today oh, boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall
I’d love to turn you on
