take ice skating lessons

This was planned in for last weekend and I’d started to feel the fear about seriously breaking myself in some other freak accident again and I wasn’t really up for it but I’d got a friend to agree to come with me so I couldn’t back out aaaand

“rink closed for essential maintenance until July”

Well then, July it is

I wanted to do this last year too.

I can skate, I just want to be really good at it. While I waited for lessons to be available I decided to go skating for the first time in 10 years one Sunday afternoon.

Broke my wrist, needed 2 surgeries (one rather unusual/advanced) and 6 months off work. 11 months, 1 bone graft and 5 scars later and my wrist’s still not totally back to normal.

But, but, I still want to be able to skate really well . . . and it was totally a freak injury . . .
