Feb has come and gone and I have been doing great on this goal! I drafted a budget, stuck to it and had emerged victorious in this battle (for Feb at least). In the process of doing this, I have increased my 401K contribution from 5% to a healthy 15%. My plan is to max this out to 25% within the next year depending on how I’m doing with the recent increase in contribution. Looks like Feb has been uneventful, let’s see how I do in March!

Alright, seeing that I’ve already blown this goal for Jan, there may still be hope for me in the next 11 months. I’ve drafted a budget that is pretty conservative, which I’m afraid I won’t stick to, but I’m going to give it a shot! I’m giving myself 2 months to adjust to the budget before I start taking drastic measures like putting more into my 401K and savings. I’ve also taken Butterscotch’s (thanks Butterscotch!) advice and am reading Smart Women Finish Rich in order to get more tips and motivation. Wish me luck and for the meantime, keep me away from the malls…
