be more creative

I am making a patchwork quilt. I am so excited!

I have heard word of an amazing bead shop so I’m gonna go get some treats for the quilt.

I need to go to John Lewis to get fabric for the patches. Hopefully it’s gonna be made of Cath Kidston fabric as well as gingham and other such patterns. Very coutrysidey =)

I made this yesterday! http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/beautiful_paper_snowflake it’s really big but really pretty =D I gave it for my mum and hung it above the telly =) Gonna make one for my room in london too, yay! But it’s more crafty than creative really. Darn. In the process of making a skirt out of a pair of old jeans too =) It’s going well, but again, more crafty than creative.
I need to do my songwriting homework, which is quite original-though ish. =)
Don’t know what to give Chris for valentines day!!! Gosh. Ideas anyone? Needs to be free/very inexpensive. He’s off chocolate for the WHOLE YEAR so I might just make him some non-choc cookies and package them up like this: http://craftsonawhim.com/node/82
Thing is, we don’t have the right kind of can opener =/

I’m making Chris a photo album for our anniversary, but I can’t find the right album anywhere!!! It has to have black pages and be sort of A5 size, opening landscape-wise. It only has to be like that because I want it like that, but I thought it’d be quite easy to find – not so! I looked everywhere in Somerset basically (well, not really). I’ll check out Borders when I get back to London. Preferrably I’d want it with no cellophane stuff, so more like a small scrapbook.

ANYWAY I’m gonna put lots of photos in from our first year together, and I bought a little metal tag with ‘with love’ printed on it, and I’m gonna write notes and messages and maybe put some tickets in if I can find any and yeah! =D Exciting.

I spent last night and this morning playing my violin!!! I haven’t played it for about a year, it was so fun to get it out again! I’ve decided to take it to London and play for fun =) Gonna buy some concertos and stuff =) I also played my guitar and made a video of me singing/playing Jolene, for youtube.

I was packaging Chris’s keys into an envelope tonight, since I took them home by mistake hah, and I realise now I could have put one of my postcards in with them too. Oh well, I put a note saying I love him in there anyway. Another time!

In other news, my dad introduced me to The Complete Millennium Musical, by the Reduced Shakespeare Company, the other day! It’s so funny, I’m listening to it now! It’s a comical musical about the turn of the millennium and the past thousand years, using lots of different styles of music. I recommend it, if you like that kind of thing! Not exactly creative of me, but whatever! =)

I meant to go to sleep last night, but instead I got distracted with postcards. I only did 2, but they’re quite sweet! One of them says ‘Sometimes my smile gets SO BIG I think I scare people’ then there’s a row of hearts and at the bottom it says ‘(it’s when I’m thinking of you)’, and the other is in a nice font I did myself with a biro lol, saying ‘you’re splendid and I love you xxx’. I’m going to leave them in places for Chris to find over the next few months =) I’ll probably make 2 or 3 more too. It’s leading up to our anniversary so that’ll be sweet!

I’ve been very uncreative lately, and so it was refreshing to have some sort of outlet. I’m struggling with songwriting at the minute! =(

I bought this book called Wreck This Journal and it’s really cool! There’s a different thing to do for each page, and it’s really kind of off-the-wall. Some examples of some pages are:
A page for four letter words (mine include love, mint, days, mini, many, sexy, slug, time, fuck, kite, fame, ewww and rose)
Cover this page with circles
Burn this page
Make a mess. Clean it up.
Drip something here
Compost this page and watch it deteriorate
Chew on this

Anyway! It’s fun, I like it =) I always have this thing that when I get a book like that, I want to save the good pages for last, but I’ve realised that that’s a stupid thing to do, and if I want to do something, I’ll do it right now!

I just re-read my last entry, and I realised that literally the day after I posted it I met my boyfriend. The weird thing is that that first poem completely describes us! That is totally our relationship, right there! And it’s weird because I wrote it without ever having any experience with relationships ever, I just wrote it about a fictional guy! But it’s totally about us! Kinda freaky! Hah ok, too many exclamation marks there. But don’t you think that’s cool? I do. I wrote it about a week before I posted it, but still, it’s like I knew I was going to meet him =)

Anyway, I forgot what I was going to say in this entry. Hm. What have I been doing that’s creative? Owh, I don’t know. It’ll come back to me, hopefully!

In Loving Me:

This is the boy who has my heart.

Sometimes the words flow out of me,
Like a river to the see.
But then that makes me feel a fraud,
Because I didn’t incorporate thought.
Yet I succumb to pleasure

Doing as a hedonist should.

I’m not happy with the last one cos of it’s rhyming pattern is weird: AABBCDED. HMMM.

Yesterday I made my sister’s Christmas present – a fused-plastic make-up bag. =D All I had to do really was 2 lines of zigzag at the edges. I LOVE using the sewing machine, I want to do it more =D
