actually learn to play my guitar

My friend bought me a ukulele!!! Just because I mentioned wanting one once or twice (or 100 times). How lovely! It only cos like £12 but WHOOP I am happy =) Gonna learn, gonna learn! Left it in Cambridge though, but I can get it back next week hopefully =D

Broke a guitar sting =/ whoops! So I have to go buy another one, obviously. Annoying!

Currently working on Somewhere Over The Rainbow and some Igrid Michaelson songs, and Sittin’ On The Dock Of The Bay by Otis Redding! =D Yay it feels so good to actually do what I say I want to do and improve! =D I’ve learnt lots of new chords in the last few days, and they’re not as impossible as I thought! =D

I played about a bar of the finger-picky bit of Failure by Laura Marling on guitar =) Been playing it a lot, but I don’t have much of it! Haven’t had the internet so couldn’t get chords etc. But now I will try and try and try and fit in a lot of practice =)

Just learnt Jolene by Dolly Parton. Yay, but it’s not hard, which is annoying. And it’s just me randomly strumming the chords like an imbecile. So it’s not exactly progress.

Aaaagh, guitar guitar guitar! I find it so hard, which is frustrating because literally everyone else can play the guitar. It’s like the most common and convenient instrument EVER. And I can’t do it!!! I am so annoyed. I’m hoping my new flatmates can help me learn because they both play and I’ll be with them every day so hopefully I’ll pick some things up or it’ll click in my mind or something. Also, I’m starting music college soon so I’m hoping everything will just fall into place. Basically I need to learn, I need to! It’ll just make my songwriting way easier and better I think. I hope!

I can’t believe it’s been 4 weeks since I first learnt Bubbly! Seems like less. Anyway yesterday my dad showed me basic finger picking, which I’m going to practice loads and get good, and also showed me how I might improve my barre chords. They are the hardest thing ever, I swear!

Yesterday I learnt to play Colbie Caillat’s ‘Bubbly’ =D Well, I only strum the chords, I don’t do the finger picking. It’s so haaard!! However, I will persevere. =D

my mum bought me a ‘learn guitar in 10 easy steps’ book the other day! Awh! I didn’t even ask for it. It looks pretty good, I’m gonna practice lots.
