I was originally put on Zoloft in 1999, at 12 years old. I was prescribed it in order to feel less socially anxious. What I didn’t (and my parents didn’t) know was that Zoloft is a potentially habit-forming drug, like any other anti-anxiety med. So, now, here I am, seven years later, and I’m still on the damned thing. But I’ve made up my mind that this summer, I’m going to wean myself off of it (and my psychiatrist is totally okay with this plan). I want to live life without feeling “drugged up” all the time. I’ve tried going off of it once before, in 2004, but the withdrawal was too much for me to withstand at the time. This time, I’m serious. I’m getting off of this drug no matter what. And I’m so excited about that. :)
