I’ve had a housetree before, but not a treehouse. My sisters and cousins and I used to meet at “The Tree”, right between our houses. First we hammered steps into the tree trunk so that we could get up; then we built tables (and ate at them!), a tire swing, coat nails, and a rope seat. A smaller tree right next to it served as the “fire escape”, and we strung a hammock down at ground level. It was really great. I miss it.
