go to costa rica

12th july – 3rd august!
also, i’ve raised all the money i need, so i can sit back and relax (kind of) and just buy myself pretty things.
my kit is sorted: i have new boots, a new rucksack, an UNBELIEVABLE waterproof jacket, the warmest sleeping bag and a headtorch, amongst other things like thick thick socks and baselayers.

so exciting, now all i have to do is get in shape and prepare for climbing the highest mountain in central america and trekking through the rainforest…

today we decided on the itinerary for our trip. we’re trekking through corcovado national park, as well as climbing mount chirripo. we’ll be doing some community work as well, and i just can’t wait!
i’ve got about £2500 saved up, which is great. it means i only need to find another £500 and then i need to accumulate my kit, which will cost me so much less because can get it on trade. it’s going to be just so fantastic. can barely sit still!

i’ve currently got enough to pay the first £900 payment, which isn’t going to be demanded until july! hooray.
to prepare for costa rica, i also need to kit up, get my jabs and learn some spanish. as well as get physically fitter,because i’m going to be trekking through the rainforest and stuff.
worked out if i keep saving the way i have been, i’ll have £600 ish to spend on new kit. Might finally get a decent sleeping bag!

i think i’m becoming a little over-zealous about this one.
the other day, i took out £100 to save away. this meant that i had no money to buy my lunch yesterday. it seems i’ll make it to costa rica, but on a very empty stomach with ripped up rags for clothes and numerous complaints from national rail for skipping the ticket machine.

every so often, usually when i’m looking at my bank balance, i get very excited about costa rica.
i’ve been thinking about my kit list. i work in an outdoorsy sort of shop, so in my head i’ve been compiling a list of all the stuff i want to take with me.
if i finish my savings target early (which hopefully i will do), i may just EXPLODE.

righto, all’s well so far.
in fact, i am AHEAD of target. This is frankly terrifyingly organised.
£350 pounds has been paid as a deposit.
zusaetzlich, i’ve squirrelled away £150 this month, and i’ve got £125 in silver in a box in my room. feel slightly pirate-like. wish it was silver doubloons, not just twenty ps. wish i had a parrot.

i’m going to go trekking around costa rica in summer 2010. all i need to do now is just earn myself £3000, and i’m set! £3000. In a year and a half. Easy.
