Leave my city once a month, leave my country once a year, leave my baggage behind me

G and I just spent 4 days in Prince Edward County, mainly to visit wineries, have great dinners, enjoy each other’s company on a little getaway. The B&B was wonderful, the countryside beautiful. We visited about a dozen wineries (there are 3 or 4 new ones since we were there two years ago), and brought home 15 bottles! We had some amazing dinners at restaurants with renowned chefs, and spent some time exploring the area. I finally got to visit Oeno Gallery too. :)

We rebooked a vacation, but due to the malaria advisory in the Dominican, we decided to go to Cozumel. I’ve been to the Mayan Riviera, but not Cozumel. The snorkelling/diving there is supposed to be really good, so that was one reason we chose this spot. But we’re not going until March, so I have to wait a whole month to get away from all of this snow and cold. Something to definitely look forward to!

We booked a one week getaway to the Dominican Republic, and should be there right now, but I got the flu two days before we were due to leave and we had to cancel the trip. :( But we will rebook! I’m not losing out on a sunny beach vacation this winter. It’s nasty here and we got another snowstorm today, so we must fly off as soon as possible!

G and I are going to a B&B in Westport this month to celebrate my birthday. I can’t believe I haven’t been to Westport yet, as I’ve been told it’s a beautiful, romantic town only an hour or so away from Ottawa…can’t wait! ;)

So, for the year 2008, we are going to Portugal for two glorious weeks in June! We leave in two weeks time, and now I just have to get some Portuguese into my brain so we can communicate. Nothing worse than being a tourist who doesn’t even try to speak the language of the country in which you’re a guest.

G and I are going to Montreal for the weekend, staying in a romantic B&B, shopping on rue St. Denis, cafe hopping, restaurant sampling, hiking up Mont Royal, maybe seeing the biosphere…bliss!!! It’s only 2 hours from home, but it feels so different there. I even took today off work to make the weekend longer.

Finally a chance to go to Turkey! My partner is going there to train for two weeks this month, and I’m joining him for his second week. My good friend who teaches in The Hague will meet me so we can sight see in Istanbul while he’s working during the day, and then for the last week, he and I will tour Turkey. Perfect!

To celebrate two years together, G and I went to Picton for the weekend. The wineries are quite good, compared to the Niagara region. We brought home 10 bottles, and could’ve bought more. It was a wonderful visit…saw the sun set and the moon rise at Sandbanks Provincial Park, did all the weekend getaway things couples do. Great B&B…PierceMartin House in Picton. I do love little excursions like these.

G and I rented a cabin on Indian Lake in the Adirondacks for one week next month. I can’t wait!

G and I are going to Kingston tomorrow. We took Monday off work to have a long weekend, and we’re going to stay at the Painted Lady in the bridal suite…jacuzzi and fireplace. The Inn is decorated in Victorian kitch, with more flowers and doilies and geegags and googogs than you can shake a stick at. Perfect…a lacy frou frou stage for a naughty romp.
