I read GWTW for the first time in High School, about the time I saw the film and I was hooked. I started picking up various editions with different covers, different years, even different languages (I have a 2 volume set in Vietnamese thanks to a military friend).
My best find so far is a 1936 edition of GWTW, however, though it’s the first year it came out, it is not a 1st edition, meaning 1st printing. It’s something like the 39th. It’s not in the best condition—not really for reading anyway. I have a feeling a 1st printing will cost me a pretty penny, but that’s what goals are for, right?
I currently have around 20 copies of the book, including a brand new edition with a gorgeous cover (PB). I have more PB than HB due to the age of the HB they are harder to find.
