I have been sick 2 years ago

I have been icky sick for about two weeks now and I haven’t done much of anything memorable. I took the girls to the Sanrio Hello Kitty store in Raleigh last weekend and I guess that was worth mentioning.
I hope I get back into this goal by fall.

What a weekend... 2 years ago

I spent this weekend helping my daughter handfeed a parakeet chick that our Mama keet doesn’t want. My parakeets had chicks about a week and a half ago and are taking great care of those chicks but a late-to-hatch egg was more than Mama keet wanted to deal with when it hatched on Friday. So we have been feeding it with careful instructions from our vet and pet store. This is an ENORMOUS chore but oddly the chick is still alive and growing. I have learned more than I ever wanted to know about handfeeding chicks. We even made a clever incubator for it.
We saw “Pirates” 3 on Sunday then rushed home to feed “Peepee”. ((thats what my daughter named the chick))
Monday we didn’t do much but it has been an interesting weekend and a very educational one too.
Peepee is six days old now! WOOT!

Last Weekend! 2 years ago

Friday: We drove down to Florida to see my oldest daughter graduate from High School!
Friday we arrived in her town and stayed at her Dad’s house. I met her friends and we shopped for a dress for her to wear under the gown. I spent time looking at my other daughter’s Anime art portfolio. We ate Indian food her Dad cooked and he and my husband drank some kind of Irish beer. I stayed up most of the night looking at old family photos with my Mom.

Saturday: We attended her graduation and it was wonderful! They had it outside and it was a nice day (not too hot) I was so proud of her! She looked lovely and so grown up!
Saturday afternnon my daughter’s boyfriend took me to StarBucks for a free bag of Coffee (He works there and they get a free bag a week) I got “Verona” Bold. Then we went to meet his mom. She was so nice and friendly. She seems to love my daughter so I was relieved.
Saturday night we went to The Melting Pot! (With EVERYONE!) That was the neatest place! It’s a fondue restaraunt in Viera. We ate for hours and then we shopped.
After we shopped in a fancy outdoor mall then went to their home and watched “Pan’s Labyerinth”.

Sunday: I went to church with my daughter and her boyfriend. They have a neat church. Everone sings and hugs. I enjoyed it!
Sunday afternoon we drove halfway back then stayed at The Hampton off 95 in Savanna. (WOW) That was such a nice hotel. It was worth the $ it had a hot tub abd pool and the night manager let us swim as long as we wanted even after it was closed. I had the best hot shower there and it had the softest most comfortable beds!

(Monday we finaly arrived back home and I have to say THAT was a memorable weekend!)

Took Thomas to PetSmart 2 years ago

Ok so we were going to fly the kite but it is very very windy and the beach was a dust bowl of blowing sand. We drove the length of the beach island then decided to find something else to do. The girl’s went to a church event so Mike and I took the dog to a city about 1/2 hour away and went to PetSmart. Its fun to take the dog in the store and we bought him a leash and a ball and picked out a feather toy for kitty too. The we stopped at Arby’s and bought sandwiches for all and ate them at a city park.
It wasn’t life changing but it was better then all day TV or folding clothes like we do most weekends.

Bought a Dragon Kite 2 years ago

I bought a dragon kite today. It has a 24 Ft tail! We live near the beach and it has been windy lately. If it doesn’t rain tomarrow I would like to take the family out to the fort and fly it. I will take some pics for MYSpace and 43 and post them. We are grilling burgers today and I took the girls to the park earlier.
It wasn’t an expensive kite as I got it at Wally instead of the Kite Shop on the beach but it is a good start.
One day I would like to KiteSurf! Wouldn’t that be something? I need to acheive a few more goals first, like getting in shape. I have watched people KiteSurfing and always felt in awe of their spirit.

BBQ? 2 years ago

Ok I bought a grill from Wally and all the accessories! I am cooking chicken and it feels great to use our porch as an area of weekend excitement rather than just “where the dog goes”!
I like this! I have created more useable space in our tiny world.
The girls are chalking up the side walks…..hope the landlord won’t yap.

April 28-29th 2 years ago

Saturday: Walked around the flea mall. This isn’t “memorable”, but there is little to do here. I bought my girls Air “Heelies” from the Asian vendor. I bought some belly rings for my (18) daughter for a gift to take to her in FL in three weeks. I have better gifts but I wanted to talk to the girl at the stand where they are sold. She didn’t look “Poohbear” or “NASCAR” so she was a change from the local people in this town. She was nice and her conversation hinted at education, maybe she went to ECU at one time.
*I tried a drive to Wilmington last weekend that was a flop for all, as we couldn’t find anything to do. The Waterfront was grid locked and the Mall was outrageously expensive and the Zoo was too hard to locate. I am going to try to exhaust all the cool areas here before venturing “out-of-town” for fun. OBX, Shackelford, Beaufort waterfront (maybe the bead shop today???)
I need to save my $ so adventures may have to be limited and experiences count for more…
Maybe I need to view this area as a tourist would. I try to do that when we want to find a new pub or cafe. I pass by some places I never go in and I should make a point to stop. There are several art galleries and pottery shops that sell interesting items. I guess I have lived here so long I don’t feel welcome in “yachty” shops. Funny how I have sequestered myself to the flea mall. Teacher’s mind….and bank account.
