Tonight, I ate quinoa for dinner, and it occurred to me that this must be some sort of milestone. :D I must admit that I’m still not eating the way I ideally could. There are still some doughnuts and carbonated soda once in a while, and I don’t eat as many vegetables as I should . . . but, on the whole, I am eating SO much better now than I did when I created this goal. I’ve also educated myself a lot, so now I do know what I should be eating (even if sometimes I eat naughty stuff anyway). So, yeah, my eating habits are definitely healthier.
Now, if I could just get my kid to eat better, too! :D

I’ve come a HUGE way on this issue since I made it a goal here, but I’m still not quite ready to consider it complete. I’ve been seeing my nutritionist for more than a month now, and have learned a bunch of things – including some cooking tips and recipes. I think I’ve got a good handle now on what I should be eating. I’m not quite in the habit of doing it all the time just yet, though. I have started incorporating healthier foods into my diet – but some of the junky stuff is still slipping in when I get lazy. And it’s not that I don’t intend to let myself eat some “junky” stuff – I just don’t want to go entire days when that’s all I eat. So, making good progress on this one.

Over the past couple of weeks, I have completely eliminated meat from my diet (including fish). I think this is a good start towards eating more healthily. Now, though, I am concerned about making sure I get enough protein and other nutrients. I do take a multi-vitamin designed for vegetarians, but I want to do some additional research, to make sure I’m really eating properly. So, still a bit more work to do before I’m satisfied about this goal. :)

I have been much more aware of this lately – I’ve cut out almost all beef, chicken and pork from my diet, and I’m only eating fish occasionally. I’m thinking of going completely vegetarian, but I haven’t quite taken the plunge yet.
I am eating loads more vegetables than I was prior to making this a goal, and also drinking a lot of water. I have also cut out a lot of junk foods – I’ve had almost no soda over the past several weeks. I’m still eating some chocolate and the occasional handful of cookies or candy. I guess I don’t really need to cut those things out entirely – just cut back to a reasonable level (which I’ve probably done). I think I did slip a bit over the weekend, though.

I’ve been working on this for the past several weeks already. Well, no, I’ve been working on this on-and-off for the past several years, but in the past I always seem to go back to my bad habits – too much junk food; not enough fresh vegetables.
So, now I’m going to make a big effort to get into a permanent habit of eating healthy foods, and also getting my son to eat healthy, as well. I want to start by re-educating myself on some of the specifics, and then reading the labels on the stuff that I buy. I want to try and avoid overly-processed things, and colourings and additives that aren’t necessary.
I also want/need to expand my range of things that I know how to prepare. Or, at least stop being so lazy when it comes to actually cooking things, instead of throwing a frozen burrito in the microwave. I’ll update regularly on my progress.
