Next year I have some time off anad want to keep myself busy with catching up on my learning italian a bit. Still some time to collect some material.

I never took lessons, but my parents did and they practised a lot. After a while I knew their vocabulary better than they did, I only lacked the grammar.
Later on I started to learn with some cassetttes and went to italy for two weeks. I started to just talk a bit and people were so enthousiastic – well a bit toooo enthousiastic and well… italians are talking pretty fast when they are this enthousiastic. But I understood a lot of what they said and could even reply a few times to make a small conersation.
All of this I thought was gone, since it was a few years ago. In between I learned to talk, think and even dream in dutch and italian and dutch are not really compatible…
But just a few minutes ago I watched an episode if a serie I like with italian subtitles. It was weird! I thought I didn’t need to look at the subtitles, but I automatically read them and understood quite a lot. It’s still there! ;-) For the next bus-ride I took my italian book out of the closet and into my bag again.
