We moved and it was very easy to find something we did not want to keep anymore. After three months of throwing things away regularly I declare this goal as finished and want to continue this, but not on a daily base.

We just moved into this new house, but already there’s this closet in which some things just accumulate. This saturday we went through it and it’s half empty again, because we threw away a lot again. When we don’t have that much time, we just dump things in there. But we now want to take a few hours once a month on a rainy day and look at everything a bit more closely again. We are decluttering more and more like this.
There are not that many things left I wouldn’t miss. Well, of course there are, but they are nice… It’s a good thing my husband throws away things of mine (he simply refuses to move them into out new house) which originally belonged to me (and are too heavy to move by myself).
At first I had problems with it, but I have pictures of them and Í won’t miss them.
So far this is an easy goal to achieve. I have just moved and the last box has just been emptied and every time a new one was opened something old and almost forgooten could be thrown away easily. And I still have a few things to get rid of in the future, to make life more simple and to get rid of too much clutter. But when is this goal actually achieved? Never, is it? Come to think of it, at least half of all my goals are those goals which I can never be done with… That’s not bad. Just have to get used to it.
I still had some embroidered towels with my name and the name of my ex at home… Well, not anymore! Yesterday I also threw away two frames. Inside were very nice photographs (again from my ex) which I liked a lot. I kept them, in an “old memory” drawer, but they won’t be seen anymore on our walls.
How are those things called, with which you smash a fly? Well, I had a designer-thingy of those in my kitchen, without ever using it. It’s black and there’s a face on it – quite funny actually. But it’s just standing there catching dust, not flies, so I threw it away today (along with some old frames with penguin pics).
It sounds so simple. And for me, right now it is. I have just moved into a new house and making a selection of what to keep is pretty easy. I am throwing away mostly flower pots and things which were out of sight for years. A good start to achieve the “live simply” goal ;-)
