I just bought a full run of the Cook’s Illustrated hardback annual issues for 60% off the cover price. The hardback books are so much easier for me to use than the loose magazines. I have a few issues of CI here and there and I’ve found some of my favorite recipes there, so I’m excited to explore this new purchase!
In other news, I’m going to the Cape this weekend and I’m planning to make champagne risotto with a gifted bottle of champagne rather than spend a ridiculous amount of money for dinner out. I’m looking forward to this meal very much, it’s been years since I’ve made it.

I’ve been doing pretty well at this. Cooked at home every night last week except Monday when I brought home gyros (something I would never cook for myself).
Among the dishes made were chicken quesadillas, english muffin pizzas, pasta and meatballs with homemade sauce, cavatelli and broccoli, egg and bacon sandwiches and chicken pot pie.
I found a recipe for burrito pie that I’d like to try this week (which would use up the refried beans and tortillas from the quesadillas) and I may make another pot pie to use up the leftover frozen vegetables and chicken broth I still have.
Also, when I cleaned out my freezer I found 4 boxes of Gardenburgers that I didn’t remember I’d bought. It’s like free lunch food!
