speak fluent spanish

I was able to help a man in the school bookstore the other day. He was so precious. He was trying really hard to practice the English he just learned but the sales girl was not understanding him. I hope I didn’t upset him but we both got to practice our bilingual skills that day. :)

I’ve been taking Spanish calls at work and it’s kind of fun. I gave up on myself yesterday and the day before but today I am 90% sure I got this man everything that he needed even though I only took about 80% of what he said. I asked if he understood me and he said yes and that I was not so terrible. :)

I did pretty well! They left me on the Spanish call que, although way at the bottom. The people are really patient with me and my fumbling when they get me on the phone so I’m quite pleased.

Two of the three Spanish speakers will be gone from work tomorrow so they asked me to give it a try with the people that call in. I am pretty scared, but I guess any practice is good practice.

We have a Spanish class during my lunchtime at work. It’s taught by one of my friends in my department but I still hate going. I realize that it’s because I’m insecure about my abilites. I need to get over it though. My insecurity has kept me from way too much in life already.

I just watched Destinos yesterday and after marveling at it’s extreme cheesiness, I realized that it lit a fire under me. So, I went out and bought more books. A reader with questions and answers since so many people seem to be doing so well from reading novels and such and that “501 Spanish Verbs”.

I was watching Univision to work on my listening and comprehension until it got bizarly racist. It was so weird. I’ll have to turn it back on in a bit though. I’m slacking off on my self-imposed lesson time.

Maybe I’ll work out to my Julieta Venegas CD later, as well. A lot of people learn English through music (I guess MTV is not entirely worthless) so I figure I can do the same.
