Freedom 6 months ago

lately I’ve been inspired by colors and birds.
the reoccuring theme in my life is Freedom.

is there any better word than Freedom?
Freedom is perfect,
it’s my happiness, my comfort, my everything, my life.

I seek Freedom
freedom from the pain in life
Freedom is an escape from a reality

freedom is me flying away in 700 days.

this is why I live
why I go to work
why I put $136 in the bank rather than buying something.

freedom <3 is my hope.

((pic is my original art inspired by a photograph of a (sterna hirundo)—photo of original bird by David G Hemings.))

Soccer balls kill 10 months ago

Well, I’ve been looking forward to making origami and graffiti-type lettering. I bought some insane markers today and some heavy-weight paper. I thought a little about what I should draw but somehow it went from grass to soccer ball in grass to bugs in grass and then, tah-dah…The moral of my art is that soccer kills bugs so you should play indoors :) haha I’m jk…this is what I do after the kids I babysit go to bed, way too much free time on hands

Grass 11 months ago

A day or two prior I had been thinking of different ideas of what I would like to draw. Inspiration is fleeting lately and very difficult to harness and concentrate. However, while shopping the day after Christmas in North Carolina <3 I had a spare moment where I went to the car, blasted Camila for an hour and just sketched. My heart was in it and I love the outcome which I polished briefly today. Horray me. I love art. Such an anti-depressant.

Inspiration 15 months ago

Inspiration is the fuel of art. I don’t see how people profit off of art, I wouldn’t be able to punch out art as if it were nothing. Art is a little piece of myself that I put on paper. It’s hard enough to show people, to hear what they think of your exposed soul. Some people choose to exclude their soul from the art, there is no heart, no thought into it. Just a pretty picture I suppose. Real art is something that is made for the sake of making it, not for the sake of profit or approval from the hot guy that’s into Artsy Girls.

I did a sketch, then watercolored a picture of a dozen roses in a clear vase, blue water on a glass table in front of a big sunset. oh yeah then i made a mistake and covered it up with a plate of cookies in the painting. haha. it was a present to my bf for our 3 year anniversary, which was huge. he liked it, he doesn’t harness too much enthusiasm, especially for my art, since I’ve given him quite a bit over the years, and I know i’m not some world-class artist, but my heart was in it, and he inspires me from time to time.

During Church 20 months ago

A while ago during the church service, one of our members made a beautiful painting of a precious picture of Mary holding her baby Jesus.

my small group leader recommended getting involved with this too. I don’t know much about painting, but I do enjoy my own style of art…pencil, pen, colored pencil etc…

today I worked a bit on the concept I would like to draw during the church service. I want to depict my transformation from my old life into where I am today with my upcoming baptism… details are not concrete yet :)

My Alphabet Book 20 months ago

I decided to make another Alphabet book (last time I made one was ‘93,in kindergarten :) I think it’s incredibly cute, and this is my new vision, that instead of making depressing emo art that depicts my ‘dark side’, i need to focus more and bring out the good side, the cute side. I want to make it look ‘professional’, so I’m really going to take my time on this and do a quality job. My objective is to make something professional quality to have for my kids. I just like making things, and I like that each letter gets a Visual—”A is for Apple”...G is for Giraffe…M is for Muffin…S is for Shark…

I also plan on making more Alphabet books, themed on Christianity, Vegetarianism or En Español, the possibilities are endless.

it seems appropriate that I finished part of my art for my grandma on her Bday.
I miss her so much and I wish to commemorate her through this art. She deserves it and much more.
The pic above is my recreation of her Autograph book

I made my bf a cool postcard, took a real long time, but it was worth it, I even went to FedExKinkos for the lamination (only $1.30 something :)
also, for a long time I kept my bf’s art on my wall, then for a long time I tore it down (my angry phase), now I put it back up and have it in protective covering (he wasn’t happy about the water damage), I hope this shows him I appreciate his art. there’s really nothing sexier than a man artist. :)

I’ve been completely inspired by postcrossing to begin creating my own postcards. at first I was afraid the post office wouldn’t accept them, but they got around the world fine. cool. I enjoy incorporating my love for colored pencils, and recently I got a pen set, it’s amazing.

I found my grandma’s old autograph book, and it has to be the cutest thing ever. i miss her so much. i want to commemorate her, thru recreating this booklet, and showing it to the world. i love it.

my grandma’s actual autograph book shown above, dated 1935-1937, she was only 8-10 years old, how cute is that, really…just picturing old people young…
