I’d gotten pretty bad over the summer (more than I’d care to admit to) but I had managed to tame it down to 1 on the way to work, one with lunch, and one with dinner (this sounds like a lot, but trust me-it was an improvement!) over the past few weeks.

Last week I came down with a really horrible stomach flu and was separated from diet coke for a few days; my first time ‘cold turkey’ in a while. When I had my first ‘DC’ today, it wasn’t like reuniting with an old friend as I had anticipated; instead it was just a lunch time beverage to wash down my meal.

The flu pushed me to drink buckets of water, and I’ve noticed the trend has continued ; I’m drinking water in place of diet cokes (as I should!) without feeling like I’m missing something. I guess I never noticed how bad it had gotten, and I’m really glad that I’m able to move on without such an addiction to the stuff.

I’m down to 2-3 cans a day; one in the AM with breakfast on my way out the door, one with lunch, and usually one in the afternoon/evening. It’s been difficult, but worth it!

Today I haven’t had any diet coke…but I’ve had two diet pepsi’s…

That doesn’t count, does it? ;)

I really got to thinking the other day after my boyfriend said, “You sure perked up after that Diet Coke!”. I don’t want my attitude, my mood, and my life to revolve around bubbles!
