I DON’T GET IT!!!!

I was going to write “Cherryh writes long sentences, Thomas Mann’s got nothing on her”.

But I was unsure if “got nothing on s/o” is correct in this context, and I asked at a language forum. Answers:

1. yes, colloquial

2. no, “got nothing on s/o” means “has no evidence against” and nothing else

3. you’re wrong, it’s correct

4. I’m right, it’s wrong

5. I have read somewhere … blah seems it’s correct after all

Erm. As there are some native speakers here: HELP PLEASE!

The hives I enjoyed for the last two days have also initiated a fascinating discussion about Fortune Cookies (scroll to the comments), and I have learned the most amazing facts. Hints: “in bed”, and their origin.

And I have finally remembered how much I love the German translation of the name “Fortune Cookie”: “Glückskeks”.
That’s one of the loveliest German words ever, imo.

And I suddenly remembered that my other account at 43T, my very much neglected German account, is this one.

With regards to my last entry about things that make me happy… I am not happy any more. I can add “in bed” to everything now, coz I am still in bed, and not at work, and the drum-circle has to be postponed again, and that really SUCKS!

Gosh. And tomorrow there’s supervision, and I look like a raspberry.

Who would have thought that I’d regret not being able to go to work.

This morning I had a terrible dream. I dreamt that I’d forgotten to set my alarm clock and woke up at 9:10. And I had to be at the symposium at 9:00!
I started to rage and cry while I jumped outta bed and got dressed and rode my bike (like the wind) and arrived totally unhinged…
Then I woke up and realised it was just a dream.
It was 7:15. Still half an hour till I had to get up! Oh lovely!
I turned off my alarm clock, coz I was awake anyway, and just wanted to drowse a little bit more before getting up.

Yea. Of course.

Luckily my flat mate knocked on my door when she left for her work, waking me from a much deeper (and much nicer) dream. So I made it in time after all…
