I had a very close friend, you could consider him a best friend.
His pet name was asshole, actually he considered it a compliment to be called one.
One day I called him one in what I perceived to be a joking manner, and the next thing I know, BLAM, friendship over just like that. I haven’t spoken to him in over a year.
I called him when my father died, and believe me I was at my lowest but I missed my friend. I had to leave a message on his machine, and as you guessed no return call.
So how do you know in that situation that one single word used all the time would just end it all?
