I had to have surgery @ $300 and pay $300 to replace a tire on my scooter … so I had a balance of $600 on my credit card (which has a limit of $600) and was flat broke. But my raise kicked in and and slowly lowering my credit card debt again. I am also putting money in a new savings account, switched banks (one that has a local branch – always helpful) and am holding off on putting money in my Roth IRA. When my lease is up I’m hoping to find a new place – one thats cheaper or smaller and with a yard (tiny housing is awesome I don’t care what anyone says).
So: CC – $500
Scooter loan: $5200
My parents: $235
Tuition is unfortunately out of the question this semester but I can go in the fall after I get my tax refund. I’m taking it upon myself to learn something since I’m not going to school, so I’m learning some ASL. I showed my boss how to sign bull@*#
If anyone wants to open a savings account through ING for @ least $250 and get $25 for signing up, ask me and I’ll send ya a referral link.

This all started about a year and a half ago. I had only one credit card but had gone over my limit. I had moved in with friends, and did not understand the concept of a “budget.”
Then a large sum of money was stolen from my purse within the few minutes that I wasn’t watching it.
Had to move back in with my folks to get things under control again. I work at a convenience store, don’t really make much. Picked up more hours, cut back my spending, sold quite a few things on ebay for some extra cash. I have since ditched my car for a moped, which I am making payments on.
I finally have my own apartment and no roommates. (I was living with 4 guys and 1 girl in a 2 bdrm) I keep my bills low.
Most importantly to me though, I still have no student loans. I have kept going to college (community college) and I pay for each semesters tuition and books in full. I get no financial aid. So I don’t feel too bad about having to make payments on the moped.
I had gotten my credit card down to $0 and knew I should cut it up, but couldn’t bring myself to do it. You know, “just in case.” So now my balance is up again. Not over my limit, but too much to pay off outright.
I’m giving myself 3 months to get it back down to $0 and cut it up this time.

About $2800 in debt (after I sell my car, owe $4k on that). Should have my motorcycle paid off soon. Haven’t taken out any student loans, I am too worried about the possibility of not finding a job soon enough after graduating in my field and then having those payments due.
