Yesterday (march 14, 2009) I picked this up again. Sometimes in the evening my eyes are too tired to read or watch tv and I didn’t know what to do. Then I remembered my paper cranes again and started folding again. Today I also folded cranes while in the car (my husband was driving, of course ;).
IrisSofie has written 8 entries about this goal
It’s going slowly, but that’s okay. I haven’t set up a deadline for it, it may take as long as it takes. I just fold some every day.
I started folding using the paper from the senbazuru kit. They are so tiny! The size of the paper is 5×5 cm (approx. 1.9×1.9 inch). But it goes well, so far. :)
I folded a paper crane in the train to the zendo yesterday and discovered I now can fold them without instructions needed. That’s a good thing. :) I hope to receive my “senbazuru-package” (with 1000 origami papers, thread and beads) in the mail today.
The second one I folded today already looks much better than the first one. I’m really looking forward to receiving the origami paper I ordered, so I can start with “the real thing”.
After folding I practiced zazen (meditation) for 20 minutes. It’s nice to combine those two goals this way, like a ritual.
This morning I tried to fold my first paper crane. I understood the directions, after some trying, and the first one looks reasonably good. Practice will make them look much better. :) I ordered some origami paper to make the folding easier.
After folding this first paper crane I practiced zazen (meditation) for 20 minutes. Like I wrote in my previous post it was my plan to do so.
I found a nice page on wikipedia about this: 1000 origami cranes.
I liked the idea from blingyogini, to fold a paper crane before meditating (zazen), so I can combine two goals and see the progress of both of them.
