I enjoyed myself immensely with making this book. Can’t wait to try out another new kind of binding. :)

Yesterday I started to make a so-called chinese star book. Never made one before, so I’m curious how it will turn out!
At this moment I’m very busy with making a guestbook for a wedding. The bride, whom I never met, e-mailed me to ask if I want to do it, because she likes my work so much. I agreed. It’s much bigger than the size I’m used to; around 10×10 inch. But it looks beautiful so far. The covers (with wool felt and origami cranes) and signatures are ready now. I only have to sew it together and attach a bookmark (“book thong” with nice beads) to the book. I expect it to be ready before I leave for my Buddhist retreat, which is on april 30..
I just finished “china in your hand”.
Title: china in your hand
Made: 09 march 2008
Binding: coptic stitch, coptic headbands
15×15 cm (approx. 5.9×5.9 inch)
white 4-ply Irish waxed linen thread
196 pages 220 grs/m2 100% recycled, acid-free paper
handpainted covers (acrylic paint & varnish) with porcelain (china) beads
It’s for sale in my Etsy Shop.
I changed the goal from “make at least 12 handmade books in a year” into “make more handmade books”. And I’m busy with a new book right now!
I finished “koi” this morning, by attaching the koi fish to the front cover. Yay!

Today I worked on new bookart (a new “empty book”). I sewed the coptic headbands. Now I have to find a way to attach the little plastic koi fish to the covers and then it’s ready. I’ll upload a picture of it here when it’s done.
There’s another one in the making too. It’s called “China in your hand”. I need to buy some nice paper for the endpapers. I hope to do that tomorrow.
Well, I haven’t been in here for quite a while and I think I’m not gonna make this goal happen. But I did go on with making books. :) My latest work is Buddha’s Book.
Buddha’s book is for sale in my etsy shop.
