Various...

Lots of people at the workplace have been complimenting me on my shoes and dresses. That’s telling me my wardrobe is appreciated so yay!

My boyfriend tells me how witty my texts are and how they make him laugh. That makes me smile when I hear that.

Cardigans, hairclip, and wallet!

This time, it’s all material items:

People at work seem to love my cardigans. The funny thing is, I used to HATE cardigans because I grew up watching my mom wear that stuff all the time…but now that I’m older, I realized it’s because she chooses the wrong colors and wrong fit (and wears it in horrible pairings with the layers beneath). I actually grew to really love wearing cardigans now. Great layering piece. I have probably gotten compliments on most, if not all, of the cardigans I own (I have about 6-8). I get most of them from the “cheaper” sister brand of the brand I actually work for so it’s funny when coworkers keep commenting on them.

I have this awesome orange hairclip with a plastic giraffe glued to it. It’s adorable and cute and I’ll wear it regardless of my outfit :) and people love it. My coworkers keep pointing it out and so does my boyfriend. :)

I used to like wallets that could hold everything. And then the whole clutch thing came into trend. The really flat ones that hold barely any coins and nothing too thick. I LOVE it. It’s classy and doesn’t take up a lot of room. I have this plain white one with this cool “basketweave” texture from Nordstrom. All my friends see it and want to know where I get it! Great buy, that one.

Work-related

My coworker said that one of my managers (the highest-up) trusted my judgment. This really made my day.

And perhaps not quite work-related or not quite a compliment but nevertheless made my day…a new friend said that he has faith in me (something most people don’t or trust me). :)

Playing catch-up

Wow, I’ve been slacking on keeping this faithfully updated…but recently I’ve gotten some really good compliments that I want to share here :).

I had one last project to finish for school and it was one I struggled a lot on. After I finished presenting it to the teacher, he said that my graphics were strong and had always been. He also pointed out that I’m strong technically in illustrating detailed, smaller pieces, but I definitely need to work on my perspective and bringing everything together cohesively. It was nice…for him to tell me to always remind myself that “I’m talented.” :D

I work as a stylist/salesperson and I ended up spending a great deal of time helping one walk-in client and she loved a lot of my recommendations to build a quick wardrobe for her job. She loved my belt recommendation (which was one of my favorites – I also own one) and said that I was really patient and wonderful and made great suggestions! Whee!

One of my coworkers told me that having worked in both men’s and my department (where she also works now)...she’s seen different ways of approaching customers (men shop differently than women) and that sometimes she’ll see me working with a customer and she thinks to herself that, “Ooh that customer will be back.” meaning I’m using a good approach in my interactions as a stylist. This made me feel great as I do adore this coworker and she’s worked in the store for over a year.

:)

Surprisingly,

a teacher told me she really liked one of my projects…one that I’m incredibly disappointed with. I was just like, “REALLY???” and in my head I’m just wondering what’s wrong with her, because I really really didn’t like the end result. I don’t know…yeah so that’s a compliment.

Um, and some peers in my class really liked some of my styling projects, so that was really great. Everyone that saw my home product styling project was all “Ooh!” over it and I’m really happy because that’s the ONE project in the course of my design career in school that I’m actually truly proud of! :)

Oh and someone said I looked nice today! Yay!

here and there...

~ a friend said he liked talking to me because i don’t get all “PC-police” on him or too judgmental.

~ i helped my aunt write a declining email for a job position while sounding absolutely grateful (AND not burning bridges) that she loved (writing style).

~ one of my swimming teachers seemed genuine as he said “good job! very good” as i managed to do something different with my arms (that he was teaching) for the breaststroke – probably because i usually have to untrain myself from bad habits before i can pick up the new tricks.

Not too many lately..

Well…my group leader said I gave a good presentation the other day. I suppose that’s something!

One of my swim teachers complimented me on a very well done flip turn (something I’ve been struggling with for a while).

While browsing Juicy Couture with a friend, a random lady I walked past said in a low voice that she liked my trench coat (from Forever 21). I smiled the whole day.

Compliments are great!

1. I used an awesome word one night in a chat and my fellow chatter, who is also a word cherisher, was all giddy about it. The word was aplomb.

2. I said something, not really intending to be funny, since I’m more of a dry wit type of person, but people laughed. Truly laughed, not just tittered. I felt really good about myself.

3. Everyone who has seen me recently has remarked on my tan (though most of them do not intend it as a compliment) so yay! I love being tanned.

4. I had quite a number of dinner parties over the course of several weeks and most of them were quite successful and none were failures. Even if the smoke alarm went off. The guests were very happy and some even asked for recipes.

5. I did a 10 minute presentation and got very good feedback from the audience and a good amount of interest in the topic, which I was not expecting. Yay! I also had people come up and ask me questions and tell me I did a good job, which made me feel amazing.

Photoshoots

I worked on 3 photoshoots while I was in Hawaii “for fun” mostly….and for the most part they turned out pretty darn well. All the models have said something along those lines and so has other friends I’ve showed them too. It means a lot to me, because I put in a lot of time and effort into these projects :).

Not much lately

Though one of my roommates did say I looked good in an all black outfit I wore for a presentation.

A guy complimented my black suede boots and white suede jacket (maybe he just had a thing for suede).

A teacher said my researched inspiration images were good.

That same teacher said my critique of another person’s space sketch was good (coming from him, that’s meaningful).
