live in a foreign country

I’ve just returned from a semester abroad. I’ve been home for a few months, actually but I got rock fever within a month of being back. Rock fever because I’m on an island. :(

I can’t wait for the next country. As of now, I’m planning to be in Europe somewhere in early 2009 and then another country in late 2009 or 2010.

I discovered that I like living a place for a while rather than traveling. I like having a “base” to work from and travel from. Even if it’s as short as a few weeks – I still think that’s living there, not a prolonged vacation.

I’ve spent 6 weeks in Paris, France and 5 months in London, England. I’m planning to spend a year, teaching English, in China (maybe Shanghai or somewhere else southern) and I also want to go back to Europe to work for 6 months.

I really can’t wait! I have so many plans!

I missed the food the most.

Bring snacks that you can’t get over there if you can. Or have someone willing to send you a steady stream of it at least in the beginning when you lapse into cravings. Besides, you just need that comfort food, you know? :)
