Boyfriend...

At first, I was concerned that my boyfriend would be unhappy about the idea of me doing this possibly in the future, but he apparently also has dreams of his own that I’m probably not a big fan of doing. So I suggested that a good time would be if we both simultaneously went away at the same time (he wants to do a continental US road trip with photography)...it’d be perfect! His dream will take at least most of a year and I want to teach English in China for about a year, so it works out well. Not too bad, I think. :)

I’m hoping I can do this before I turn 35 (so I have about 10 years)...depending on how it fits in with my career goals!

I get so excited when I meet people doing it

Okay so I meet people online who are doing it – but I still immediately ask them if I can barrage them with questions and so far, everyone’s been great.

:D

Dalia Beo, on here, has also been very helpful :D. I just get so excited when I discover someone’s been to another country to teach or is doing it currently. I like hearing their stories. It gets me excited about thinking of doing it as well. :D

Despite all that, I still have my doubts. I still have fears. On some days, I’m so ready to let the doubt eclipse my current decision to go teach abroad (but I’m aiming for late ‘09) and on other days, I’m determined to do it.

EF program

I just learned about a pretty good program called English First. They concentrate on China, Indonesia, and Russia. It seems to be awesome so I want to try this. :D

Someone I know might participate so then I get to barrage her with questions about her experience. Whee! I’m excited.

China!

I’ve always been interested in teaching in China. I’m also very interested in learning Mandarin and the best place to do that is in China! So I figure in one stroke I get to teach a subject I’m good at and learn Mandarin at the same time. Whee!

I think it’d be great to spend time there too, as it is my heritage and I don’t know very much about it.

I hope to get a gig in a nice city, though. Any advice?
