Been swearing less 22 months ago

just simply because most of my new friends are international students and I really watch what I say when I’m with them. I make sure not to speak too fast (which I’m prone to do, of course) and try not to use overly difficult words. The second is harder to do because I have to kind of stop and figure out a simpler word, which sometimes eludes me, hehehe. So while I do this, I also make sure not to do swear words because it’ll confuse ‘em and then I’d have to explain it. Just so much easier not to swear around them. They already know some, though, lol. It’s quite funny because they’re so concerned with NOT saying it. I have Brazilian friends and every time they say “beaches,” they have to correct themselves to elongate the “ea” sound because with their accent, it sounds like “bitches.” I’m amused at how concerned they are.

Anyway, that’s my update on swearing for now.

I have a fining system 2 years ago

Whoever I swear in front of, I have to pay 5 cents for each swear word. I’m actually getting used to taking notice of when I swear. And I do pay up. :D I’d make it a quarter but I swear a lot and I’m not that rich. I just use this as a way to notice when I swear….from there, I can gradually swear less. :D

Starting out this week 2 years ago

Well, how should I go about watching what I say? I already automatically stop swearing around my bosses, although I’ll still use “Damn” a lot. I can’t seem to shake that one. I don’t mind retaining that – just because that one is such a part of me.

I don’t have any problem with my swearing but I don’t like how people will perceive me as uncouth if I accidentally slip in a professional setting. Besides, from experience, I hate it when people do a swearfest in front of me (even if it’s not TO me), so I don’t want to rant with a bunch of swearing to my friends either. I must try to do this…
