Get a new job

In 6 more weeks I should know more about a new job I am interested in. There is a woman who is retiring after 35 years. They gave me a large portion of her work. Some people already assume that I have her job. I am eagerly cooperating with everything I have been given to do. The retiree will be gone in two weeks. As slow as the management moves at my job….it will take at least a month more for them to decide on what they will do to replace her. Of course they won’t hurry…..they’ve only known about this retirement for 6 months. I have my fingers crossed.

I have now planted the seed that I will get a new job….and possibly a promotion into management in 2008!

I sent an email to my boss, and his boss expressing an interest in a Supervision Class that was being offered to New supervisors. I told them in the email that I would need the training IF a new supervisory position became available in our Finanace Department in the coming year. (It is a well-known fact that our Accounts Payable Supervisor is retiring in June.)

The director stopped by to tell me that he had no problem with my request and it was OK for me to take the class.

I was feeling quite optimistic so I sent my resume to the AP supervisor’s boss, “just in case any supervisor positions opened up in the next year.” I was being facetious….but I’m hoping it will leave a positive impression. I know that the position has to be advertised and all potential candidates have to be interviewed…..but I hope to have planted the seed early.

I just have to perform well and stay out of trouble over the next 6 months.
