That I can now skateboard competently enough not to be laughed at when I go to a skate park. That was my goal and I’ve become pretty good in the last 3 months. Not anywhere near pro, don’t think I ever will be – but I think I will persist with skateboarding – even though I keep hurting myself!! I’m seriously considering buying some ankle braces and elbow braces – because I keep spraining my ankles and dislocating my left elbow (yeah I know – OUCH!)... Oh yeah check the dislocation x-ray!

I learned a new trick ‘Rock to Fakie’ – I could do it on small quarter pipes. Thinking I was awesome, I agreed to go to an indoor skate park with my brother that evening. Problem was I didn’t warm up skating around, just went straight to the half-pipe! First time in, I stack it REAL BAD! In the same manouvre I mangaged to sprain my left ankle and re-dislocate (yes RE-dislocate!) my left elbow! OK so my ankle is ok now, but I am still worried now that every time I stack I am going to dislocate my elbow again. I’m looking into getting an elbow brace that I can tighten with laces – if i can find one! Anyone know of where I can get my hands on one let me know!
It was awesome – I’ve got a bit of a rhythm now and can pretty much get around the bowl now without stacking it. A new set of bearings has done the trick as well – can keep up speed better now.
I can pretty much Ollie whenever I want – but still quite a way to go with the whole skateboarding thing. Have gone to a few skate parks recently, but am still too shit to do anything good there. I’ve discovered that at the moment vacant car parks are the best place to practice – smooth concrete and nobody to stack in front of!
Today my ankle felt good enough to go and skate again. I decided I needed to try a skate park so I drove to the one my brother told me was good. There were kids everywhere! I was too embarrassed to stay there, because they were all so much better than me! I ended up driving to another park and managed to skate for over an hour. I’m getting better at ollies now – I can almost get them every time! There were four other guys at this park who were in their late teens – they were all good skaters, but one in particular was really talented – he said he’d only been skating for 3 years. If I can skate half as well as him in 3 years I’ll be very happy!!!
I saw a tv show last week with a dude who was 30 years old and a pro skater. He only started skating when he was 22! I was hanging all week to get myself a deck, and got one on Saturday! I bought the deck, trucks and bolts and my brother gave me his old bearings and wheels. I went for a skate with my bro Sat afternoon and had a few minor spills but it was awesome! I can feel i’m gonna be a lot more fit if I keep it up. On Sunday I went for another skate, but after just rolling around for not even a minute, I slipped and sprained my ankle! Its Tuesday today and I still can’t ollie, but hopefully by tomorrow I’ll be trying to ollie again!
