Well, to date we have managed to pay down our credit card debt by about $3000! I am continuing to put the difference since my pay increase toward our credit card debt which has made a huge difference. I expect to pay off our credit card in about 8 months!

Well, since my raise I have been quite consistent in using the additional money to pay off credit card debt. It is very encouraging to watch the amount owed decrease every month. I expect that I will have the credit card debt payed off within 1 year. Another positive is that my husband’s truck is now paid in full. I hope that we will be able to manage with our present vehicles for at least another 2 years which will allow us that much time without vehicle payments.
I recently got a raise in my hourly rate. This is wonderful news and will be a huge help in paying off debt. My goal is to take the additional income and put it directly towards debt repayment. Then I’ll be that much closer to financial freedom!
Ok, I was watching Oprah this week and she featured an author of a book called “The Secret”. On this show one of the guests made a comment that really hit home with me. He said if you focus your attention on the “debt” you will get more of it. Shift your thinking to that of “financial freedom” and that is what you will get. It was also said that debt is a manifestation of “wanting to have” or “feeling that you are owed something”....interesting.
Now that the fishing season has started again we have some extra cash to pay down debt. So far we have paid off the line of credit!!! We also cut down on the amount of money we normally spend on Christmas. It also looks like my husband and I may becoming of one mind about how we value money. The new year looks brighter already.
I don’t think I’ll be able to accomplish much in this area for the next few months. We’ll see how it goes, hopefully we don’t go further behind. Hubby won’t be working again until the end of Nov.
I made the final payment on my 2000 Grand Am! She is all mine. I hope to keep it for at least another year and put the amount I would make as a payment towards paying down our debt.
Well I took a bit of a break on this goal because of my trip to NY, but now I’m back and focussed on getting rid of this debt! I made a payment against our credit line today of $70 and we have not used this credit line for awhile so it is slowly moving downward.
I failed to track my spending again last week. This is a real challenge. I think I am neglecting to track because I don’t want to know what I’m spending. I have been eating out a lot and I know this is a definate waste of my hard-earned money so I have to STOP this craziness! I’m going to try again to track for one week.
