this is a goal you never complete; but I have now made it a habit to read the Bible every day (get emails from biblegateway.com, plus read my own bible).
great sermons can be had online by Andy Stanley of North Point in Georgia at http://www.northpoint.org/messages

Autobiography in Five Short chapters by Portia Nelson
1.I walk, down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in.
I’m lost… I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
2.I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t see it. I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in the same place. But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.
3.I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I still fall in . . . It’s a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.
4.I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
5.I walk down another street
The path of God is another street.

Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."
