visit all 7 continents

We visited Australasia & Asia in 2006 so that leaves Antarctica & S America. At the moment I feel satisfied by my recent travels so will probably plan something a little closer to home this year.

Until the Big Trip. It really hasn’t sunk in yet because we’ve been changing our lives so dramatically here. Definitely going to need a hiatus.

a visit to 2 new continents (Australasia (NZ) & Asia (Japan))) + N.America (San Fran) I am really excited about travelling this route. It’s been a dream of mine for years.

Trans-Sib (Asia)
Antarctica Cruise (see below)
Tasmania

Not quite sure whether this is the right path to take. On the one hand, We’re getting to the stage where we really need to be thinking about having a family – on the other, we have always dreamt of travelling to far-flung places and now is a really good moment for us to do this in terms of money & time.

I think it’s going to be a question of playing it as it comes…

There are 2 key journeys which I could make to fulfill this one in 2 years:

Antarctica via Chile/Argentina
Tasmania/NZ with a stopover in the Far East

Obviously, I would love to explore each continent individually and hope that I will get a chance to do this at some point in my life, but in terms of the now, these are my best options. I’ve toyed with the idea of long-term travel (ie. the world trip), but have decided that I want to find my fulfillment in other ways.

Also, I really dislike flying (both the actual experience and the environmental destruction it causes) so I am also looking forward to seeing the world so that I can limit my holidays to overland/sea journeys for a while.

There are two other trips that I would love to take which involve long-haul. Japan (preferably some kind of food-tasting tour) and a tour of Central America to check out the Mayan temples.
