Yesterday I started at the top of a pile of clothes and other stuff that needed mending and worked right down to the bottom. (Two pair of jeans, a dress, two tableclothes.) The second tablecloth was crocheted in quite an intricate pattern, and had several holes in it. I managed to reconstruct the pattern quite well, not by crocheting, but using more like a tatting technique to build up the missing parts. You can see it if you look at it really close, but otherwise it blends in. I was actually very proud of myself, that I managed to repair it.

Ironing, cooking my sons favourite dinner, cleaning the house, ...
The energy in the apartment gets so much better when we put some work into making it nice and clean.
Yesterday I did all the ironing and cleaned out a cupboard in the kitchen.
I sorted a pile of recipes torn out from newspapers and magazines – discarded some, put the rest in a binder.
Today I just reorganized one kitchen-drawer and did some paperwork.
If I continue to do a little extra housework every day, I suppose that I sometime in the far future will have a well organized home.
Cleaned bathroom and toilet
Cleaned the cupboard under the sink in the kitchen, took out and cleaned and sorted everything inside.
Cleaned doors and floor in the kitchen.
Cleaned inside the refrigerator and washed the loose shelves, sorted the food inside.
Took out ashes from the fireplace and put in new logs.
Took out paper for resirculation
Took out plastic for resirculation
Washed three machines full of clothes
And of course – made dinner.
I had to wait for a while after my daughter moved out before I started to use her room for other purposes. Today I moved my sewing machine and my serger (which I never have learned how to use properly) into her old room. They used to stand at the floor in our bedroom, gathering dust and adding to the clutter. Now they have got a new home in my daughters old room, which maybe can become my new sewing room (which I have never had before.)
Getting the machines out of our bedroom inspired me to clear out some more clutter. I have a small desk in the corner of our bedroom which used to be covered with books, papers and stuff. Now it is almost empty, just the lamp and a box of pens and pencils.
I think both clutter and neatness have a tendency to spread. If you start to tidy up on place, you get inspiration to do more.
My daughter came home to visit today, and I asked her if she would mind if I moved my sewing machine and some other things into her old room. (The sewing machine is one of the things that are standing at the floor in our bedroom, because I have not found anywhere else to put it). Also I have some stacks of books that I would like to move in there.
She did not mind at all, but appreciated me asking. So now I can make her old room look like somebody lives there again and get some stuff out of our overfilled bedroom.
After dinner I moved my favourite chair in front of the fireplace and sat down with a good book, a cup of coffee and a piece of dark chocolate.
I was able to read the whole rest of my book without being disturbed – my husband did the dishes.
I think that will be my new favourite place in my home.
I had a red and green tablecloth for the dinner table during Christmas(very Christmassy,)and the dining room became kind of bleak and sad when I replaced it with a pale green tablecloth.
I think I will have to get a new tablecloth in intense warm colors. Maybe I should make one myself (patchwork, inspiration from Kaffe Fassett)? Or buy one. I will think about it – how to introduce some warmer colors now in the cold season.
My 20 year old daughter is moving out today, it feels kind of sad. On the other hand all her cosmetics and clothes and things are going away too, so maybe it will be a little easier to be organized at home. But I will really miss her very much. A good thing that she is not moving so far away, so I will still se her probably every week.
Still, it is a big change!
I spent some hours in my kitchen today and threw away food that had passed its expiration date, sorted, organized and cleaned, so now all my foodstuff is well organized.
